St. Nicholas Quiz – Saturday, 19th March 2016
The St Nicholas Quiz held on Saturday evening, 19th March, 2016 was a very successful night. Everyone was well fed, well entertained by the Quiz Master , Miky Clarke, and gave of their best.
We ate the traditional home-cooked cottage pie with various fruit crumbles for dessert and drank from the supplies at the bar ably manned by Helen and others.
The Quiz winners were Doreen’s team. Well done to them.
And we raised just over £1250 towards church funds. Thank you to all those who attended and helped.
Plant Sale – Saturday, 14th May 2016
St Nicholas made £818.00 from the plant stall. Many thanks to Pam and Dick Tuplin for their work and time growing the plants and for their generous donation of them for the plant stall.
Thanks also to the team who stored the plants overnight, erected the marquee and manned the stall from 9am until 2pm, them dismantled everything and cleared up. A great team effort.

Harvest Festival 2016
St Nicholas Harvest Service had a Glatton Bake Off competition to illustrate the theme of Christ being the Bread of Life. The service on 25th September, 2016 was led by Rev Dr Donald McFadyen. He interviewed a local farmer, Kit Darby, about farming issues and the three Anderson children read the bible passage. Jacqui Pigott played the harvest hymns, Joan Meiklejohn read the intercessions and everyone sang with gusto.
After the service, people moved to the village hall for the Harvest Supper provided by the families in the church with meat supplied by the Williams Pork Factory in Glatton. The Produce Auction from the gifts in the church displays raised £203.25 which will be sent to ‘Our Father’s House’, a charity in Brazil which helps street children.
